Doggy Birthday Cakes

I was asked to make the cake for my 1st grandson's 1st birthday party. I had a blast!
He was into 'dogs', so I made 4 different dog cakes (we're a big family). They were surprisingly easy to do. I used a 6" round cake pan for the neck, a dome (1/2 ball) cake pan for the head and cupcakes for the nose and ears.

Canned frosting, cake mixes, and candy decorations. It worked!

Golden Retriever Cake

I have been requested to make many types of cake but, a Golden Retriever was the challenge for this young girls birthday.

I have been baking specialty cakes and pastries for several year accepting many challenges in design.? This design came from a co worker fro her 9 year old twins birthday party.? Their dog is a Golden Retriever and they wanted a cake that looked like their dog.?

After several days of thought I came up with this design, one 9" round, one 8" round and three cone shapes welded together with buttercream and a serated knife.?

t began to take on shape and I finished it with a collection on grass making tubes in an array of colors to project the look of fur. This then was the finished result.

Fairy House Cake

My daughter loved the idea of a fairy toadstall cake and it was my first go at cake making, I used lots of creative ideas and a little help from my feminine side to achieve the desired effect.
Sugar paste and marbled sugar pastes were all included.
See what you think.
Not bad for a bloke, at least I have to say that.

This was my first attempt at a cake covered in fondant and I will be sure to make more and continue to practice! It was for my daughter's 6th birthday party, which was a garden girl theme.

This is one of my fav cakes. It took ages to get the shape of the cake right.

I cheated a little by using store bought figurines though.

Dinosaur and Flip Flop birthday cakes

I was blessed to host my twin grandchildren's 4th birthday party. I wanted to create something unique for both of them.

I made them each a "special" birthday cake. Nikki loved dinosaur's so I made him a chocolate cake from one of my best home made chocolate cake recipes.

I bought chocolate boulders and mini dinosaurs to decorate the cake to make it look like a quarry. Ruby's cake were two "Flip Flop's" I made one of my favorite white cake recipes for her and set the cakes on a beach scene I created with colored candies and vanilla Oreo cookies to make it look like sand.

I used cocktail umbrellas to give it a unique beachy feel. Not only were the twins thrilled with their cakes but everyone at the party were quite impressed.
