Birthday Deer Hunter Cake decorating techniques

Birthday deer hunter cake for my husband's best friend
I made this lovely cake for my husband's best friend. He likes to hunt, so I decided to make this cake.

I hope reading my birthday deer hunter cake decorating techniques will help you make a hunter cake.

For this cake, I baked a yellow layer and frosted it with apple flavored butter cream. First, I made a layer using next ingredients: eggs, sugar, flour, baking powder and vanilla extract.

I beat egg whites with sugar, then I added egg yolks, flour, baking powder and vanilla extract and mixed it all well with a mixer. Prepared mixture, I poured into the prepared pan and baked it in the preheated oven for about 20-30 min. I cooled baked layer and set aside.

Then, I prepared the apple flavored butter cream. I mixed eggs with sugar and poured it into the boiled milk and cooked until thicken. When cooked, I let it to cool.

When cooled, I added butter and mixed well. Then I added chopped apples, cinnamon and chopped walnuts and mixed all together until combined. I greased the layer with this apple flavored butter cream. I put icing in different colors using icing bag. I used different shades of green and brown color and made decorations to look like uniform.

On top of it, I placed deer and tree figurines to achieve wood effect. Around the cake, I put cupcakes. On the top of each cupcake is a letter, and placed together they spell "Happy Birthday Ricky". I combined flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. I added shortening, milk, and vanilla. I beat for 1 minute on medium speed. I added eggs and beat well. I baked it 20 min. and cooled. I frosted it with the same cream as used on the cake.

My husband's best friend was pleased with the cake, and so was I.
