About Cake Candles

Most of us don’t know why we put candles on our cakes, we just do it because its tradition.

The early Greeks, it is said, started the tradition of putting candles on cakes.

They did this so the cake would glow like the moon and look like their goddess of the moon, Artemis.

We put candles on our cakes to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, promotions and retirement parties. Candles have been decorating cakes for centuries and now we have all kinds of candles for our cakes. Stores sell the regular candles that have been around forever. If you buy a cake most stores will give you a pack of 12 candles free.

Number candles are another type of traditional candle that has been around for a long time. These candles are good if you’re serving a small cake and don’t want to put twenty regular candles on the cake. These traditional candles are perfect for parties inside. They don’t smoke a lot and are easy to blow out.

If you know someone that loves practical jokes, you might want to get candles that relight when you blow them out. They also have exploding candles. You can get these candles at a party store or a joke shop. Sparkler candles are real popular with children. They like to watch it sparkle and the sparkle candles make good decorations on the cake along with the regular candles.

Other candles that are commonly used on cakes are saying candles like “over the hill”, “super cool” and “have a nice day”. These candles are usually used when the person doesn’t want anyone to know how old they are.

There are also candles that say “congratulations”. You can use this candle for graduates or if you got promoted. These are just a few of the candles that companies make. You might find others that are not mentioned here.

With all the different celebrations and cakes, you could use a different type of candle for every day for a year and not repeat one. Some of the combinations could be a doll cake with a doll candle. You could also make a cake in the shape of a web or bat and put the superheroes on top with candles in matching colors.

You can even cover a cake in fondant and match the candles to the color of the cake. If you want to be real creative, you can put candies and figures on the top with sparkler candles. These ideas are perfect for children’s birthday parties.

Most people think of birthday parties when they hear the word candles, but there are many other uses for them then birthday parties. Anniversaries are another use for candles. They even make them that say “happy anniversary”. You can put this on top of the cake with the number candles so it says something like “Happy 20th Anniversary”. You could also have sparkler candles on this cake to give it that special flare.

Another use for candles is to use them in edible bouquets of fruit. These candles are long and slender and should not be left to burn too long because this can lead to burnt fruit. You can also put these type of candles in cookie bouquets.

It doesn’t matter how you celebrate a birthday or any other special occasion.

What matters is that you stay safe. As with anything that has a flame or gets hot, you need to supervise any child that is going to be near the cake that has lit candles on it. Also make sure that the candles are cool before giving it to the child to lick the cake off the bottom of the candle.
