Cake Decorating - Pumpkin Cake!

by Victoria
(Berkeley, CA, USA)

Why make a regular pumpkin pie like everyone else on Halloween when you can make a pumpkin cake?

Everyone makes the standard looking pumpkin pie, or make the standard regular cake that we're used to. Well, I decided to make mine original and made myself a pumpkin cake. Take a pumpkin, carve it out, and pour the cake batter in. Bake it and enjoy. Easy as cake!

Now, this works best on a pumpkin that's kinda short but wide (for greater surface area). Of course, since you can't actually carve the pumpkin like a traditional pumpkin since you can't have holes, or else the batter will ooze out, lol. So that means you have to decorate it on the outside.

I colored mine and made me a pumpkin bat, and added plastic wings on the side that I just stuck on :) I like to make really unique cakes, so you can decorate it in a traditional jack-o-lantern style.
