Hi everyone my name is Anne.

I've started having nothing to do at home because i had a daughter and another one coming alon the way. I stayed home nd studied about cakes, weddings, flower and so much more.


I've always been intrested in being a wedding/party planner. So here iam having no experince. I took step up, because wanting to be a wedding planner isnt enough.


I went digging for experince from friends and famillies first. Then i made a website thu.vu13@googlepages.com/ and started posting it online. Now im helping alot of people with thier wedding and party needs.


I do alot of invitation making, centerpieces and cakes! Cakes are alot of fun to work with and im wanting to do more for people out there.

I worked with fondant for the very first time in January 2009.

I took a few classes as something new while I was between jobs and immediately got hooked. I finished my Masters in Confectionary Arts with Bonnie Gordon and started doing cakes from home for friends and family while I was still in school.


After finishing classes in May 2009 I launched my website to promote my at-home business and it simply ran wild. During the summer I was overwhelmed with work and even with a fridge solely dedicated to my cakes I was running out of room.

I got a job with a movie in September as an on-set cake consultant and designing cakes for the film. Business was going so well that I decided to open a bakery and not only do custom cakes but gourmet cupcakes as well.


My shop will be open January 2009 in Liberty Village just West of downtown Toronto. The past year has been a whirlwind and I don't think my feet have hit the ground yet!

I started making cakes at a young age. I then got married and moved to Canada from Brazil. I took some sugar decorating courses.

After watching TLC shows like Cake Boss and looking at all the different cake sites on the internet I am so inspired and have made my own cake and cupcake creations and started a business from my home.

I learned how to develop a website and become an entrepreneur. I am now going to Florida for the Flices Cake convention in Orlando to take courses from some of North America's best cake chefs.

Sweet Retreat is a home based company created by Jennifer Funk. Having lived in Langley, B.C. for almost 30 years could there be a better place to start a new business?

It all started that Christmas when she received that gold Easy Bake oven at the age of five. Stirring and baking and decorating those little cakes to watch the delight in her parents eyes.

At eighteen the opportunity to become a baker for "Spill the Beans" in Fort Langley, B.C. developed her true passion for baking. She became the head baker after five years and decided to make it her career. While working she trained professionally at Vancouver Community College in the Baking and Pastry program, graduating at the top of her class. She is now a full time certified baker and cake decorator at a retail outlet.

The most rewarding work she gets to do is work from home, making wedding and specialty cakes for Sweet Retreat. Jenni strives on perfection and uses only the highest quality of ingredients. For the last 5 years she has also offered brides on a budget with custom created "rental" wedding cakes.
