Children's cakes

I had a little experience decorating cakes due to my first job as Soda Jerk (believe it or not!) So, my first experience decorating cakes was on ICE CREAM cakes!
Since then I've let my family members and now my children request anything they want for their birthday.
I've done Barbie cakes with a doll and a decorated cake 'skirt' I've reproduced Hagrid's cake from Harry Potter and the TARDIS from Doctor Who.
This year, my eldest daughter just requested a Titanic themed cake, and while it wasn't my best work (I only had minutes to decorate-ARGH!) I thought it was pretty witty.
I baked a dark chocolate layer for the bottom (gets darker the deeper you go in the water) and a white cake layer that I colored blue. In between the layers and stuck down in the cake were Teddy Grahams. The cake itself was a couple of shades of blue with some sugar for sparkle. An AngelFood cake was carved down and iced with cookie icing for an iceburg. For the Titanic. I used cookie rolls for the smoke stacks and curly candles. I know there are only two of the four smokestacks, but I'm basing this on the ship already breaking in half.
It wasn't in the best taste (horrible tragedy that it was), but the cake itself was tasty and everyone got a kick out of it!
