beautiful diaper cake
My Mom and I created this diaper cake for a niece/ cousin's baby shower. It was the first time that each of us had attempted to make one and we think it turned out just great!
We used 80 diapers and ended up with four tiers. The diaper cake theme and colors stemed from the Detroit Tigers onezie that I bought on clearance, the colors are as follows: dark blue, red/orange and white. We topped the diaper cake with a real t-ball glove and soft ball. The bottom tier was covered with a blanket.
The third tier was covered with burp clothes that we pinned together with diaper pins. The second tier we covered with onesies. The first tier we covered with socks, a beenie baby bear holding a baseball and we used little baby cakes that we made from rolled up wash clothes.
The whole cake was secured by using a wooden dowel that we stuck through the middle of each of the tiers. We also used it to secure the glove and ball to the top of the cake.
We decorated the ribbons that we secured around the top three tiers with pins with sports-themed stickers and we stuck Johnson and Johnson's travel items behind the ribbons. We included a baseball nitelight.
Also, a pair of baby shoes were pinned to the cake. We used a pizza pan for the bottom. The picture was taken before we added blue basket filler were needed and wrapped it in cellophane. We also attached a large "It's a Boy" ribbon to the diaper cake after it was wrapped.
It took us quite a while to roll up all of the diapers and assemble the cake but we had a fun-filled afternoon doing it together and our niece/cousin enjoyed discovering all of the gifts!!!
