Free Easy Backyardigan Birthday Cake Decorating Techniques

Free easy Backyardigan birthday cake decorating techniques will help you create lovely cake.
I have a cousin whose daughter turned three and I was asked to make her a birthday cake.

Her favorite TV series is Backyardigans and her favorite character is Uniqua so I decided to make her a cake that she will adore. Here are free easy Backyardigan birthday cake decorating techniques.

You can read how I made this lovely cake and try to make it yourself.

First I made three tier cake. The bottom cake was chocolate cake with chocolate filling, the middle was vanilla with whipped cream and the upper was strawberry cake with strawberry cream.

The bottom cake I covered with violet fondant and decorated it with pink dots made of fondant. The middle and the upper cake I covered with green fondant and pink fondant dots.

Then I made Uniqua out of modeling chocolate. First I made modeling chocolate like this: I placed the white chocolate pieces in the top of the double boiler and melted the chocolate. When the chocolate was melted I removed from the heat and stirred it until smooth. When fully melted and became smooth I added corn syrup and stirred and fold the mixture until it forms a thick ball.

Then I poured the mixture onto a cookie sheet and used spatula to spread it out. I left the mixture to sit and stiffen for about 2 hours. After that the modeling chocolate was ready for modeling and is easy to shape so you can make anything you like just like fondant. I made Uniqua's head out of modeling chocolate which I added powder pink food coloring and added violet dots made of modeling chocolate colored with violet food color.

The eyes were made of black modeling chocolate and eyebrows too. The antennae were made out of wires covered with pink fondant. Then I made Uniqua's abdomen of violet modeling chocolate, arms and legs of pink modeling chocolate. On the abdomen I placed pink dots and all these lollypops I made of modeling chocolate in different colors and put them on plastic sticks.

It was really funny making such interesting cake and all kids were very happy when saw it. Enjoy!
