Free Easy Pirate Cake for First Birthday Cake Decorating Techniques

The whole cake is made of fondant which I painted with food colors. First I made the map of fondant. I used cocoa powder and food coloring and with paint brush I colored the fondant to look like old and worn map.

I also wrote the letters with food colors using paint brush. The red cross and the red broken lines are made of red fondant. I drew death's head, chest and the brown field with blue lake with food coloring also using paint brush.

When I finished the map I made the upper part of the pirate's body. The shoulders and the hands I made of fondant which I colored in red for the shirt. I made yellow stripes of tallow fondant and the hands and the neck were made of beige fondant. At the end I made the pirates head out of beige fondant. I drew eyes, nose and mouth in black, and cheeks in light brown color using food coloring. Then, I made blue kerchief and I put yellow dots on it and on the edge of the kerchief, I put green fondant and the pirate cake was done. Good luck!!!
