Free easy train cake fun design decorating techniques may bring smiles on many faces.
I made this lovely cake for my sister's son who turned 4 two months ago.
He adores trains and has lot of train toys and I decided to make him train cake for his birthday. He was very excited and when the time for cutting the cake came, he was so sad and didn't liked the idea of cutting his cake.
At the end he agreed and we all were very happy. Here are my free easy train cake fun design decorating techniques.
If you prefer you can use store bought chocolate mix for cakes or you can make it yourself as I did. I mixed butter, sugar, eggs, flour, baking soda, milk and melted chocolate and baked it in mini-loaf pans in preheated oven for about 30 min. When the mini cakes were baked I left them cool.
While the cake were cooling I made the railways tracks. I used black icing and brown fondant and made railroad ties. When I finished the tracks then I placed the cakes on it. I made the engine out of a mini cake and chocolate cream and then I covered it with red fondant and shaped it to be oval at sides.
On the top of the engine I made the white part out of fondant and all other decorations I made of colored fondant because the fondant is very easy for shaping and you can make any shape you like with it. The front part of the engine is also made of chocolate cake but this time I rolled it. Before rolling I greased it with chocolate cream.
When I rolled it I spread the cream all around it and then covered it with red fondant and painted nose and eyes with eatable colors. The car was made of chocolate cake greased by chocolate cream and covered with yellow fondant. On top of the car, I put M&M candies to look like coal. As you can see, whole cake is chocolate as my sister's kid loves chocolate very much. At the end I put cookies as wheels.
I like the how my train cake looks and hope that you like it too.
