My dear friends' son Tyler graduated history and they asked me to make him a graduation cake.

As graduation means a lot of effort and lot of read books, I decided to make him a cake consisted of three books and graduation hat on top of it.

For the first book, I baked three poppy seeds cake. First, I combined the poppy seeds and milk in the bowl and set aside for 15 min. to soak. Then I beat butter, sugar, and lemon rind until pale and creamy.

Then I added eggs one at a time beating well then I added flour, almond meal, sour cream, orange juice, and poppy seeds mixture and stirred to combine. I poured it into the pan and baked in preheated oven for about 45 min. When baked I set aside to cool for 15 min.

In the meantime, I beat the cream cheese and icing sugar together until light and fluffy. I added lemon juice and whisked to combine. Then I cut the cake into three parts with sharp knife and spread the icing between cakes. For the second book I cooked butter, lime rind, chocolate, sugar and milk for 5 min. and cooled for about 15 min.

Then I whisked in flour, eggs, until combined, poured into the pan and baked for about 1 hour and 30 min. When baked I left it to cool. I spread the lemon butter cream over top and side of the cake. The third book I made of chocolate cake. I creamed butter, sugar and vanilla until fluffy, then I added eggs and melted chocolate and beat until combined, then I added flour and milk and beat it.

I poured it into the pan and baked it in preheated oven for about 50 min. I cut this cake to get two of them and between the cakes I spread chocolate butter cream. Every book I covered with colored fondant, the first with brown, the second blue and the third with red fondant. On top of the cake, I placed graduation hat made of black fondant. I used white icing for letters and that's it.
