This was a fun cake to make. It is a 2-tier vanilla cake with chocolate filling.

All of the fondant is buttercream flavored. I used orange for the top tier and black for the witch hat and lower tier. I had a spiderweb impression mat that I pressed on the bottom tier and witches hat. Later, I took a paintbrush and used silver luster dust to outline the spiderweb design.


I made the top of the witches hat by using a styrofoam cone to keep the shape. All of the spiders and details are made from fondant. I used a piece of clear string to look like a spider web coming from the top of the witches hat. I made this cake for a friend's Halloween party and it was a big hit!
