Hot Cakes

For my seventh birthday, I wanted to go on a safari. I thought it would be cool, so my mother had someone bring exotic animals to the farm we lived on. we got to feed them and even ride some of them! But earlier that day, my mom was busy making my cake. She's a great cook, so it was easy. To make my party stand out more, though, she made me a LION cake! I was so happy! We spent the whole morning baking it, and putting the Nilla wafers around his huge head. He had a beautiful body that, being the artsier girl I am, painted with brown and tan icing. after working on it for have of the day, it was fianlly ready!
well my mother and I came out side not long after that to me the exotic animal guys. After about six minutes, I turned around to see smoke coming out of our front door. oh no is right... my mother and I ran into the house to find my cake ON FIRE on her good sliver serving plate.
My little brother had turned on the burners! My mother, being the calm, super-mom she is, simply took a pale of water and dumped it on the cake.
I.was hysterical! I could have set HIM on fire! needless to say, mom and I jumped in the car, ran into BI-LO and grabbed all the cake mix. I've never made a cake that fast in my life... and yet, it was just as good, if not better than the first one. (God is wonderful, isn't he?)
but, needless too say, my little brother still has to ask if he can cook anything before he uses the stove...
