One of the most popular cakes at church and PTA bake sales, the pineapple upside down cake, is delicious and easy to make. The secret is to have the right supplies, such as pans, cups and spoons.
Butter is melted in a square or oblong pan. The decorating of this cake is done by arranging pineapple rings, maraschino cherries and nuts in a design in the melted butter.
If you are using an eighteen inch oblong pan you will need to adjust your recipe accordingly.
There are several recipes for this type of cake. Instead of the traditional white cake, try spice or yellow cake. The spice cake version is my family’s favorite.
Let your cake cool for at least 5 minutes before you turn it out onto a serving plate. Served warm with whipped cream, this is a dessert that can be served for any occasion. You can’t go wrong with a pineapple upside down cake.
