Pound cake just sort of reminds you of your grandmother, doesn’t it? At least, I know every time I see such a traditional cake, I think of my grandmother.
That was her favorite kind of cake to make no matter what kind of occasion it was. Even if it wasn’t a special occasion, and she was just making a snack or dessert cake, she always made pound cake.
It’s been a long time since I’ve had my grandmother’s pound cake and now I wish I had taken the time to get that special cake recipe from her.
Of course, there’s a ton of cake recipes out there; but you know what I mean. No other cake recipe ever tastes as good as the one your grandmother made.
Grandmothers just seem to have a way with making anything, even a simple cake; taste better than anything else. Of course, maybe that’s because grandmothers are really kind of creative, especially when it comes to making simple stuff interesting.
Take pound cake, for instance. You could dress it up with whipped cream and strawberries and it would be perfect for a summer dessert cake or a birthday cake or even a Valentine’s cake.
If you add a little additional flavoring, like lemon, you could take for a dessert to just about any even and most people wouldn’t even realize that it was just a simple pound cake.
