SIMPLE CAKE DECORATING IDEAS

My favorite aunt was a wonderful baker. As a young woman I remember spending afternoons at her house as she baked layer cakes.
She often frosted these layer cakes with a white vanilla icing and then decorated them with a lovely, colorful decoration which simply consisted of rings of pineapple centered with a red maraschino cherry.
Sometimes she would have at her disposal fresh flowers from her garden and she would decorate the cakes with them. She often used nasturtiums around the entire base with a few on the top or sometimes candied violets.
