Quality Street Giant Purple Cake
My good friends 60th just came up and she is mad about Quality Street's purple hazelnut in caramel, so much so nobody else gets a look in when a tin is opened!
So I thought it apt to create a surprise birthday cake recreating her favourite taste. I layered up chocolate sponge with dual layers of caramel sauce sprinkled with chopped roast hazelnuts and the second layers with Nutella hazelnut spread. Smothered the outside of the sponge mould with a chocolate buttercream then covered the whole thing with chocolate brown icing, to finish off I engraved with the hazelnut shell markings as per the chocolates.
Once cut into thin slices it clearly showed the layers of caramel with hazelnut then Nutella. It was rich but still moist. Perfect for those chocoholics out there!
