I bet you have been to many weddings and will be to quite a few in the coming years, including yours.
(If you are unmarried or getting remarried, conditions apply). What has fascinated you the best in a wedding party apart from the bridegroom’s dress and her solitaires? The wedding cake, of course.
The sweetest thing in a wedding party, the wedding cake is a delight to everybody’s palate and eyes. That is why wedding cake photos are so popular, long after the wedding party is over.
When you get married, I would suggest you keep your ears open to post marriage party comments. If you are too busy to go into these details and rather mind your bride’s and your business, let me brief you with the cake talk:
Don’t be surprised if someone comes up to you and confesses:
"Wish you remarry again, and when you do please call me. Also be sure that you contact the same bakery guy. The cake was simply tasty!"
The icing on the wedding cake, literally speaking is the photo of the memorable cake, ‘the wedding cake photos’. I went to my childhood friend Angela’s wedding a couple of months back. Both of us were surprised to learn that the wedding cake photos come second in importance to the wedding cake, which symbolizes the wedding.
I heard Angela speaking to her husband dishing some intelligent stuff, which was quite unlike her.
Somebody said it right, marriage changes you. Three days after her marriage, Angela was telling her husband, "Honey, don’t you realize the significance of the wedding cake photos.
I mean, after our wedding on Monday, the very next day the place will be rented out for another party, another wedding."
Her husband Brian told, "What are you implying?"
Angela, "Nothing remains after the marriage. The cake is eaten, the guests leave and the place is taken for some other occasion. They say after marriage, the couple lives happily ever after. But don’t you think all those moments of marriage should be photographed for sweet memories?"
Brian answered, "ah, that… I had arranged for them, the pictures of Tom and Daisy, the pictures of the wedding guests, the hall, our pictures, we have them all. The pictures are coming your way."
"Oh, By the way" he asked me,"where have you bought that gorgeous wedding photo album of yours?"
"You would not believe it!" I said :-)"I found it by accident, while looking for something else",right here!
He was surprised indeed!
Anyway, when pictures came, all three of us were looking at them.Angela again interjected, "why so less wedding cake photos?"
Brian came up with, "Oh by the time the photographer could take most of the pictures, it was already eaten."
Angela was on the verge of her very first verbal explosion with her husband, "Yeah right and I was born last night.
Please, don’t give me stories."
A silent observer, the good old me, finally pacified the about to burst Angela and the timid as a toad Brian with, "okay guys, what happened to the ‘live happily ever after’.
It’s okay, I have something which will make you guys chilled. I have some wedding cake photos which my professional photographer took."
The couple looked at the album which I flashed out of my bag. There were pictures which Angela and Brian or any other couple would always love to see. For Angela it was eye candy.
Angela was saying, "Thanks, these pictures are so wonderful. Brian, the wedding cake is the most gorgeous symbol of our wedding and so we need to have enough wedding cake photos like these".
I happily gifted them the copies. There were different shots of the cake - an aerial view, a side shot and close up shots.
There was the familiar face of lovely Nancy nibbling a bite, the plump Hanson stealthily stuffing a gigantic piece in his mouth, Brian and Angela sharing their bite and of course Cindy, their pet feasting on its morsel.
The mischievous moments of people slapping the cake cream on each other’s faces were also intelligently captured. Angela, Brian and I were laughing with contentment and those wedding cake photos really changed our mood.
I told Brian the same thing I will tell you. Always go for a professional photographer who has an eye for detail and who can capture moments of mirth and sensitivity.
Twenty years from now when Angela looks at the photos, it will bring the same laughter back in her eyes with tears of happiness. I can say this because I know her well. I can say the same about you because even though I don’t know closely,
I know that each one of us love to relieve our sweet memories.
No doubt the camcorder and video camera, you can capture those moments in motion and play it on your computer.
But when you click the wedding photos and more specifically the wedding cake photo, you will have the moment captured in a frame, where time stands still and the picture frozen in time bringing back nostalgic memories, which have their own charm.
Have your wedding cake and eat it to. But make sure you take the best photos of it, when you get married (or remarried) because it will be a food for your memorable thoughts.
