Zebra Cake Decorating Techniques

Zebra cake may attract everyone's attention.
My close friend works in a Zoo and loves animals specially zebras.

As the Zoo was celebrating its 10th anniversary she asked me to make a cake knowing that I am very creative person and that it won't be very difficult to make a cake appropriate for that occasion.

After having some serious thoughts what cake to make I realized that it would be interesting to make Zebra cake and if you wonder how I managed to do that you can read my Zebra cake decorating techniques and learn it yourself.

Zebra Cake Decorating Techniques

This cake was two tiers cake and each tier was made of three layers. These layers were vanilla layers made of beaten eggs with sugar, flour, baking powder and vanilla extract. Mixed ingredients I poured into the big round pans and baked three layers in the preheated oven for 35 min.

When the layers were baked I let them cool for 5 min. in the pan and then I took them out of the pans and let them cool completely on the wire racks.

Then I made the smaller layers for the upper tier. I also needed three layers. This time I made yellow layers made of beaten eggs with sugar, flour and baking powder. I baked three yellow layers and let them to cool. While all the layers were cooling I prepared the frosting to place between the layers. For the bottom tier I made chocolate butter cream out of creamed butter, sugar and chocolate powder. For the upper tier I made vanilla butter cream out of beaten butter, sugar, milk and vanilla.

When I placed all the layers and frosted them with butter creams I started with covering the cake with white fondant. Then I made the zebra's patterns and placed them on the white fondant. I decorated the cake with flowers made of fondant, around the cake I put white and pink candies and on top of the cake I put a big letter made of black fondant. Lovely cake, isn’t it?
