Fire truck cakes are a great way to honor a family member who is a firefighter, paid or volunteer.

A young boy would be thrilled to have a fire truck birthday cake. You can make this cake from scratch or you can use a mix. Any flavor that the recipient would like is OK. I found some cake pans that make flat fire engine cakes. How ever the design I like best was featured in Woman’s day magazine. This is an easy recipe but there is work in the cutting and decorating. The recipe calls for 2 frozen pound cakes and an all butter loaf cake.

Pretzels , cookies, graham crackers, chocolate sandwich cookies and a variety of candies are used for the decorations. This truck has ladders, hoses, valves and a light on top.

There are even places to write the name of the fire company. Your fireman, big or small will love this delightful cake.
