It first appeared in the February 1978 issue. It was submitted by a Mrs. Wiggins, from Greensboro North Carolina.
This is a rich delicious cake, which at 1,245 calories, (50% from fat) per serving, is guaranteed to wreck your diet. What makes this cake so good is the banana, pineapple, nuts cinnamon, and cream cheese frosting.
Not an easy recipe, this is a triple layered confection to satisfy any sweet tooth.
There is little decorating to do. Besides frosting the cake, the only thing you need to do is sprinkle chopped nuts over the cake
The Hummingbird cake has been called by other names such as “Cake that Doesn’t Last, Never Ending Cake, Granny’s Best and Cake that Won’t Last.
