"Psychic" Hat Cake

Psychic Hat Cake 1

I was asked to bake a cake for a woman I hardly knew. It is my mission to decorate a cake that is appropriate in regards to the persons likes/style/personality.

I always place a "keepsake" item(s) on the cake. Without knowing anything about this woman except that she is very "girly" I went about preparing her birthday cake.

I decided upon a very feminine hat cake; pineapple flavored, with real crushed pineapple and "hole-punches" filled with vanilla pudding throughout, topped with cool whipped cream. I visited my local craft store and after about 30 minutes of walking the isles an idea came to me. I delivered the cake the following day.

Everybody fell in love with it! When the cake was taken to her office; her and her co-workers were speechless! The crystal teardrop fringe and color scheme of the cake were EXACTLY the colors of the outfit and costume jewelry she was wearing that day - and the earrings she was wearing could have been made from that same fringe I placed around the cake.


She stated that she had purchased those earrings 14 years ago and had NEVER worn them until that day because she had never found an outfit to match... I guess sometimes we can really tune into the mind of another....or is it just plain coincidence???


In any event, feedback was that the cake was absolutely delicious.....and she's planning on crafting a matching necklace for her earrings out of the "fringe".
